From the Editor's Desk
A busy month again for me means that the newsletter is a little thinner than
usual. There has been plenty of news and hopefully we have caught all of the
main items. The biggest event for me was that RFIDTraxx, a company in which
I am a part owner, released our first product. RFIDTraxx specializes in
using RFID to track items. Our product, DocStaxx, is designed to track
pieces of paper and is particularly needed by companies that have an
obligation to keep paper documents like insurance companies, mortgage
companies, lawyers' offices, doctors' offices, and banks. Technology News Briefs RFID Standards Lots of discussion globally this month about the ballot of ISO/IEC 18000-6 currently in progress. The discussions revolve around whether it is ready from prime time or if changes still need to be made to the sensor and battery assist sections of the new standard. Many items have been raised for discussion and the standards community ti starting to work through them to discuss the merits. The ballot closes in April and we won’t really know the extent of the comments and suggestions until the group meets in May to resolve all of the comments. If you want more information on ISO standardization or on any issue of RFID standardization, then email steve@hightechaid.com.
