From the Editor's Desk

Steve HallidayWelcome to the latest issue of the High Tech AIDCourier.

A busy month again for me means that the newsletter is a little thinner than usual. There has been plenty of news and hopefully we have caught all of the main items. The biggest event for me was that RFIDTraxx, a company in which I am a part owner, released our first product. RFIDTraxx specializes in using RFID to track items. Our product, DocStaxx, is designed to track pieces of paper and is particularly needed by companies that have an obligation to keep paper documents like insurance companies, mortgage companies, lawyers' offices, doctors' offices, and banks.

The next few weeks will see me on the road again as I attend several meetings around the country. With discussions ranging from RFID in Healthcare, to the use and adoption of the EPCglobal™ system to bar code identifiers, it will be a busy time for a while.

Are you interested in sponsoring the newsletter? Drop me a note to editor@hightechaid.com and let me know.

E-mail me at editor@hightechaid.com and tell us what you think. Don’t forget to send this issue to your friends so that they can sign up for their own issue of the free newsletter at www.hightechaid.com. If you have news to share or info you need, let me know at news@hightechaid.com.

RFID Standards

Lots of discussion globally this month about the ballot of ISO/IEC 18000-6 currently in progress. The discussions revolve around whether it is ready from prime time or if changes still need to be made to the sensor and battery assist sections of the new standard. Many items have been raised for discussion and the standards community ti starting to work through them to discuss the merits. The ballot closes in April and we won’t really know the extent of the comments and suggestions until the group meets in May to resolve all of the comments.

If you want more information on ISO standardization or on any issue of RFID standardization, then email steve@hightechaid.com.
