From the Editor's Desk

Steve HallidayWelcome to the latest issue of the High Tech AIDCourier.

The dog days of summer are here and have slowed down our outdoor activities, but in the climate-controlled offices highlighted in the news, there have been plenty of events in the past month.

The AIM Internet of Things group has published the first of their white papers and a matrix of applications on the web site (http://www.aim-na.org/iot). AIM members can sign up for the committee activities immediately. If you are not an AIM member then you should contact AIM at IOT@aimglobal.org and tell them I sent you. AIM is also holding a Summit in September and you will get a chance to understand the disruptive activities in barcode and RFID industry. If you haven’t already signed up then go to http://goo.gl/EpRpR.

We’ve added a section to the newsletter this month. Books that you might find interesting about the various technologies. This month they are all on IoT. Be sure to check out our list!

Follow my Twitter feed (@RFIDMan) for more current RFID, IOT and AIDC news and information.

Are you interested in sponsoring the newsletter? We are looking for a new sponsor. Drop me a note to editor@hightechaid.com and let me know.

E-mail me at editor@hightechaid.com and tell us what you think. Don't forget to send this issue to your friends so that they can sign up for their own issue of the free newsletter at http://www.hightechaid.com. If you have news to share or info you need, let me know at news@hightechaid.com.

Technology News Briefs

RFID Standards

No meetings last month in standards, but lots of committee work.

Many groups have standards in ballot at this time, and there are many meetings scheduled for the next two – three months. Meetings of SC 31/WG 1, WG5 are scheduled in September and meetings of SC 31/WG 7 and WG 4/SG1 and SG 3 will happen at the end of October. If the work of these groups interests you, then you need to get involved, either in person or with a report of the work that is underway.

If you want more information on ISO standardization or on any issue of RFID standardization, then email steve@hightechaid.com. For a look at RFID standards work, you can visit http://www.UnderstandRFIDstandards.com.
