From the Editor's Desk

Steve HallidayWelcome to the latest issue of the High Tech AIDCourier.

The year is almost over, 2012 is done and we move into 2013. December is a slow time for industry news. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t some really interesting things waiting for you below.

We expect 2013 to bring a new push in the area of the Internet of Things. Whether the technology is RFID, barcode, or some other means of collecting data, the Internet of Things will be a major step up in 2013. We will continue to bring you the news of this and the other areas of automatic data collection every month.

We wish all our readers a happy holiday time. And look forward to hearing from you in the New Year.

Follow my Twitter feed (@RFIDMan) for more current RFID, IOT and AIDC news and information.

Are you interested in sponsoring the newsletter? We are looking for a new sponsor. Drop me a note to editor@hightechaid.com and let me know.

RFID Standards

It’s a quiet time of year for standards. However, there are some notable exceptions. ISO/IEC SC 31/WG 7’s work items have taken a major leap forward as several of them have reached the CD stage. This work on creating cryptographic suites suitable for use in RFID tags is critical as we move forward with the implementation of RFID worldwide. Many applications require that an RFID tag is made secure. This work will make that possible.

If you want more information on ISO standardization or on any issue of RFID standardization, then email steve@hightechaid.com. For a look at RFID standards work, you can visit http://www.UnderstandRFIDstandards.com.
