From the Editor's Desk

Steve HallidayWelcome to the latest issue of the High Tech AIDCourier.

Suddenly summer is over and autumn is upon us in the Northern hemisphere. That means that business is back in full swing – or does it? Here in the USA, many of my colleagues say that business is slow. Companies that seem to have the money to move on new projects are not spending it. Is this the economy – or is it the election on the horizon? Well, by the time you read next month’s issue, we will have chosen the next President of the USA. Hopefully, whoever wins can inspire some movement in the market and we can get out there and help these companies to implement systems that will save money and improve productivity.

We are working on a new web site and new newsletter delivery system at the moment, so watch out for a shiny, new newsletter in the next few months. I am not sure when all the bugs will be out, but I am looking forward to the new system. Let me know if you think we are missing anything in the current version and I will see if we can cover what you need. Don’t forget to send the newsletter out to a few of your colleagues and suggest they sign up. There is a subscribe button at the top of the page.

Don’t forget to check out the book section and see if any of the books will help you.

Follow my Twitter feed (@RFIDMan) for more current RFID, IOT and AIDC news and information.

Are you interested in sponsoring the newsletter? We are looking for a new sponsor. Drop me a note to editor@hightechaid.com and let me know.

E-mail me at editor@hightechaid.com and tell us what you think. Don't forget to send this issue to your friends so that they can sign up for their own issue of the free newsletter at http://www.hightechaid.com. If you have news to share or info you need, let me know at news@hightechaid.com.

RFID Standards

The standards season has started and as I type work is underway in Germany on standards for data carriers such as OCR and barcodes. I leave for Europe next week and will be at a week of meetings on RFID related subjects.

I had notification from ISO that ISO/IEC 18000-6 and ISO/IEC 18000-63 (the old 180000-6 type C) standards are almost finished in editing, so we should see them published any day now.

If you want more information on ISO standardization or on any issue of RFID standardization, then email steve@hightechaid.com. For a look at RFID standards work, you can visit http://www.UnderstandRFIDstandards.com.
