From the Editor's Desk

Steve HallidayWelcome to the latest issue of the High Tech AIDCourier.

This month's issue has a focus on the Internet of Things (IoT) and Near Field Communications (NFC). This is not intentional but rather emphasizes the amount of news that is flowing on these two hot topics. There has been a lot of news focusing on IoT for some time now, but there is still a big question about standards for the topic. See the standards area below for some news.

If you or your company needs consulting help in the world of AIDC, then drop me a note and let's chat. High Tech Aid provides consulting on a variety of areas associated with AIDC.

Follow my Twitter feed (@RFIDMan) for more current RFID, IOT and AIDC news and information.

Are you interested in sponsoring the newsletter? We are looking for a new sponsor. Drop me a note to editor@hightechaid.com and let me know.

E-mail me at editor@hightechaid.com and tell us what you think. Don't forget to send this issue to your friends so that they can sign up for their own issue of the free newsletter at http://www.hightechaid.com. If you have news to share or info you need, let me know at editor@hightechaid.com.

Technology News Briefs

RFID Standards

Last week I attended the inaugural meeting of the ISO/IEC JTC 1 Special Working Group on IoT. This new standards group has been created by JTC 1 to get a grasp on what work is being done on standards for IoT.

I am currently compiling a document that will reflect all of the standards work in the many groups that have created something. If you are involved in standards that are considered to impact the IoT then let me know.

If you want more information on ISO standardization or on any issue of RFID standardization, then email steve@hightechaid.com. For a look at RFID standards work, you can visit http://www.UnderstandRFIDstandards.com.
