From the Editor's Desk

Steve HallidayWelcome to the latest issue of the High Tech AIDCourier.

After an abbreviated newsletter last month, we are back on track this month. As the kids go back to school here in the U.S., the business world seems to be getting back into full swing and we are seeing more activities and news.

Last month I mentioned the work on the definition for the Internet of Things, this month I see that the Oxford Dictionaries Online (ODO) have now included the IoT in the latest version on line, so I guess the definition is now fixed!

Meanwhile work continues to identify the gaps in the standards that affect the IoT. I am currently compiling a document that will be published and used to identify the gaps in the standards. If you are involved in standardization and believe that your work affects the IoT then drop me a note and I will send you the template to get your work included.

If you or your company needs consulting help in the world of AIDC, then drop me a note and let's chat. High Tech Aid provides consulting on a variety of areas associated with AIDC.

Follow my Twitter feed (@RFIDMan) for more current RFID, IOT and AIDC news and information.

Are you interested in sponsoring the newsletter? We are looking for a new sponsor. Drop me a note to editor@hightechaid.com and let me know.

E-mail me at editor@hightechaid.com and tell us what you think. Don't forget to send this issue to your friends so that they can sign up for their own issue of the free newsletter at http://www.hightechaid.com. If you have news to share or info you need, let me know at editor@hightechaid.com.

RFID Standards

Work on standards is getting back into high gear with a meeting on Real Time Locating Systems this month plus the ongoing ballots in SC 31.  I have just updated the standards status on http://www.hightechaid.com/standards/Current_SC31_Standards.htm and you can see the progress of each work item at this time.

If you want more information on ISO standardization or on any issue of RFID standardization, then email steve@hightechaid.com. For a look at RFID standards work, you can visit http://www.UnderstandRFIDstandards.com.
