High Tech Aid announces new AIDC consulting company led by Steve Halliday

Company will offer education, training and standards information.

PITTSBURGH, March 19, 2002 – High Tech Aid announced today the launch of a new consulting company in the Automatic Identification and Data Capture industry.

Company president, Steve Halliday, recently left AIM, Inc., the Association for Automatic Identification and Data Capture Technologies to form the new company. Halliday had been with the association for almost ten years, both at AIM USA and AIM International before the association reorganized to become AIM, Inc.

High Tech Aid will primarily provide consulting in the areas of education, training, and standards for the AIDC industry. Working with manufacturers and users, the company’s mission is to speed the global adoption of AIDC technologies. With expertise and knowledge in RFID, card technologies, and bar code technologies, the company can help with all aspects of training and education as well as providing sales support for companies.

"Having been involved in this industry for over 20 years, I know some of the gaps in the information flow." said Halliday. "This new company can help users and manufacturers get the information they need to make the correct decisions in implementing AIDC. We are in the process of creating a global network of people who can provide worldwide service to find the answers companies need."

Halliday joined AIM in 1992 from the magnetic stripe card industry to bring a technical perspective to the association and help move it forward to become the recognized leader for AIDC standards. Working with ANSI and ISO, Halliday assisted in bringing ISO standardization to the industry with the formation of SC31. He has been extremely active in promoting the industry at tradeshows and conferences all around the world. Most recently he has taken the leadership role in creating RFID standards for Item Management in SC31.
